Let's Celebrate!!!! (((CLOSED)))

Wonderful News!!!  The AccuQuilt secret will be revealed today.   I will be adding the announcement later today.

But wait!  How about something to really celebrate?  Yesterday was my birthday and lots of great folks stopped by to wish me well. It made my day wonderful.   I got lots of emails.

One of those emails may make YOU happy too. This was the email saying that AccuQuilt is allowing me to give away an AccuQuilt GO! cutter.

I love my AccuQuilt Go!

I want YOU to have one too.

Should I make this difficult for you?  No, I think not.  I will make it simple.  Go to www.accuquilt.com and pick out the three GO! dies you would like to have if you win.  Come back here and tell me  your list. I would also love to know where you live. If you have a fun fact about where you live, please share it.  One comment is all I want.  Sorry, but if you already have a GO! you are not eligible for this giveaway.

Feel free to tell all your friends about this giveaway.  If you post a link, be sure it is to this post, not to my blog in general.  Only comments on this post will be eligible.  I must be able to contact you if you win.  Otherwise, I will have to disqualify your entry. ****I have gotten several "no-reply" comments.  Sorry I can't enter you.

Okay, let the entries begin.
This will run through midnight October 15th.  Then a winner will be chosen by random.org.  I will announce the winner after they respond to my email.

GO! Team GO!

(ps I will NOT be replying to the comments on this post. I need to keep my sanity.) (note, I edited to add some info and asked  the "where you live" part to make reading the comments more interesting.)

  1. I really really want a Go cutter Gene. My favourite dies would have to be the tumbler and the apple core and of course faithful old 2 and a half inch strip cutter. Now for some of your "tinny luck" to come my way. Thanks.

You know I've fought this 'tooth and nail' (being a purist and enjoying the swishing, relaxing sound of cutting fabric), but I must admit it would be good for me to have one of these. I once developed a soreness in the palm of my hand that the doctor said was from my rotary cutter -- who knew?! The 2-1/2" strip die, the circle die, and the quarter square 4" triangle all look good!

Happy belated birthday Gene!!! I am so glad to hear it was a good day and so many people wished you and made a fuss of you. I'm sending good birthday vibes your way, albeit belated!
You know me: I took one look at the GO! Gingham Dog Die and was in love! I adore it and am already picturing quilts, cushion, a dog coat for Jack for next winter, covers for all my folders... I'm GOing crazy for that die! I also really like the GO! Rose of Sharon by Sharon Pederson and The GO! Quarter Square 4" Finished Triangle By Alex Anderson.
Where do I live? Brisbane, the capital of Queensland, on Australia's east coast. Brisbane is built along a river (the Brisbane River, funnily enough) and nearly the entire city went underwater in the 70s when the river burst its banks and rose about four feet. The local term for what Americans might call trailer trash is "bogans" (as in "she's such a bogan that she bought her evening dress at KMart" or "that bogan's wife is also his sister").

  9. Hi Gene! I just wanted you know that all this GO talk is making me want one! Between you, Pat, Barb, Ebony and now Greg...I feel left out. Please enter me in the giveaway and I will tell others as well. Happy belated birthday. I was working way too much and tonight will one of 2 days off in 2 weeks. The GO dies I would love to use on my new GO is the hexagon, the double wedding ring and the circles! Cross your fingers, I would love one. Take care, Steph

  10. Happy Birthday Gene! Aren't you 39 - same as me?

I'll take a shot at winning the GO. I would choose the hexagons, the 2.5" strip cutter and the parallelogram.

I live in Memphis, TN. Our city is mentioned in more songs than any other city in the world - more than 400 according to Billboard Magazine.

The Piggly Wiggly, the world's first self-service grocery store, opened in Memphis in 1916.

Volney, the lion who roared at the beginning of all the old MGM movies, lived at the Memphis Zoo until his death in 1944.

And of course there is Elvis!

  11. I really, really want a Go cutter, Gene. My favourite dies would have to be the hexagons and the apple core and also old 2 1/2 inch strip cutter. Please wish me luck. Thanks.

  14. Oh Gene! What a fun bday surprise for you to give one away. I would so love to win one. I will just have to keep trying! I live in very Northern IL, right on the WI/IL state line. Growing up I lived on the IL side and my friends across the street lived in WI. We thought it was great fun to change states all day long! Or even stand in the middle of the road in 2 states at once (course we lived in the country so standing in the middle of the road wasn't dangerous!) Oh to narrow it down to 3 dies - thats tough. But I would like to start out with...
    2.5" strip cutter
    3" finished triangle
    quarter square 4" finished triangle
Oh that things that I could make!!!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Oooooooooooooh, man. I would love the 3.5x6.5 rectangle die, the circle die, and the 2" squares die! SO AWESOME!

  16. Hey Gene,
hope you had a great birthday yesterday! It was also my brother's birthday so I was out celebrating with him (he is only 13 now) and my family. I live in Munich and we have a great public transportation system here but there is one tiny problem. Every year at the end of september we have this wide known thing called Oktoberfest. And the majority of people that go there are not bavarian and thus don't really know when to stop drinking :) (Okay, there are only some people that don't know when to stop)
And transportation gets uncomfortable when someone had a beer too many and - well, tries to get rid of it :) On the bright side, that doesn't happen too often and it is really interesting to listen to people speak in all kinds of languages from all over the world!
Oh, I almost forgot, of course I would like to enter your fabolous giveaway! The dies of my choice would be rob peter to pay paul, winding ways and round flower.
Thank you so much for this great chance!

I live in Sumter, SC now but grew up in Bishopville, SC about a mile from the Lizard Man! If you ever make it over to this area though, you should visit Swan Lake. 65. Wow, so many options and a great give-away. My three favorite Go! Dies will probably be the wedding ring since I have been wanting to make one, circle and square. These are the two shapes I use the most.

I live in So. Cal, 7 miles from Disney Land. For our first wedding anniv., my husband got us passes for the park and it was one of the best present I got from him.

So, though I live in Green, my mailing address is Clinton, Ohio. But don't worry, there are plenty of stores near where I live and work so I will be able to purchase lots of fabric for cutting!!!

And happy birthday! Could you share with us the secret of aging in reverse, please!!??

  72. Well, I am living in Michigan and (once again) the saying here is "the last one turns off the lights..". But before that happens, I sure hope to win an Accuquilt Go!!
My choice of dies would be: Go! Tumbler 6 1/2 "; Go! Triangles in a square and Go! Rag Square 8 1/2
Thanks so much for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  73. Well, let's see... I'd love both sizes of drunkard's path and feathers. I know that it'd be good for triangles & squares and stuff, but I am fine (for now) using my rotary cutter. But to hand cut the curves on the DP? That's why I haven't done more of them, life's too short!

Oh, and an interesting thing? I live about 5 miles from a "verified" Bigfoot sighting. Though I live on the side fo a mountain that teems with wildlife, I'm not concerned about coming face-to-face with a Bigfoot in the dark of night. I'm told you can smell them coming!!

  74. Gene, Thanks for hosting the giveaway. I think I would love a Go! I would start with the 2-1/2" strip, the tumbler, and the 3-1/2" square dies. 76. Gene,

Thanks for the giveaway, and Happy Birthday! I can do strips and geometrics with the rotary cutter, but I hate cutting circles and curves, so my 3 faves are the circle, the apple core, and (because I have a new granddaughter) the baby set.

I live in Pensacola, Florida. Pensacola styles itself the City of Five Flags because it has been ruled by the Spanish, French, English, Confederacy and United States.

Thanks again for the Go! giveaway!

I live in Adelaide, Sth Australia which seems to be a small town, more than one of the major cities of Australia. I live in the northern suburbs too, which is sometimes referred to as Bogan central or Feral city....not everyone living here lives up to my standards though, so it's unfair to nickname it those names just for my benefit don't you think? lol Thanks for the chance to win the GO!, I'd even be happy with a baby GO! 124. Hello Gene!

I too live in good old Australia - where the price of a Go! or Studio cutter is severely bumped up!
Its my birthday this month (14th actually!) and i would love a Go! cutter - the Go! has been on my list for a while as i have this year been diagnosed with a severe form of autoimmune disease - which is worst in - you guessed it - my hands! So hand cutting fabric for the quilts i make is torture sometimes! Id love the Go! (and would probably share it around with a few friends so they can cut!) just to make things easier and a bit more painless. If i was fortunate enough to win id love a 2.5 " strip, a 6.5" Tumbler and a 5 1/4" rag square. Thanks for the giveaway Gene - and Accuquilt.

I'd love to have the wedding ring die (I've been dying to make a wedding ring quilt, but the cutting intimidates me!), and the hexagon die (those intimidate me too!), and the 2 1/4" strip cutter which would make binding a breeze!
I live in Phenix City, Alabama. Where there is nothing. Yay... :)

  126. Hey Gene! I'd love to win a GO - my hands have been hurting lately (which can't be happening because I know my body is only like 20 years old).

I live in Florida and my windows are open for the very first evening and my A/C is OFF!!! It's a bit warm but I'm loving it.

  127. I have recently begun to truly admire applique and have discovered that getting a perfect template or shape is the key. Having discovered that the GO! will cut 100% shapes, every doggone time has encouraged me to want a GO!. :-) I'd love to have the Studio Feather #1, Studio Flowers & Leaves #2 and Studio heart #2 dies.

I'm in Walnut Creek, CA, which is big enough to have interesting places to go and store to shop in but small enough to still feel friendly. I love living here. :-)

I would choose the GO! Gingham Dog Die, the NEW! GO! Drunkard's Path-3 1/2" Finished, and the GO! Square-2".

I'm living in NC as of late, and am surprised by how extremely tall all of the trees here are. I'm also shocked that even though it's 10 to 20 degrees warmer here than anywhere else I've lived, I'm already pulling out my sweater. I thought I'd be tougher, and that I wouldn't have become acclimated already. Oy. Do you think I'm gonna miss the snow this winter? ;)

I live in Minnesota...nothing spectacular to report, but our trees are almost done losing their leaves and frost is predicted...but of course we still have our dock in the lake....and probably will until there is a thin layer of ice on the water!!! We hang onto our summers as long as we can around here!!!

I live in a small area of Central Victoria, Australia. There were 2500 people here in 1859, then gold was discovered 50kms away so everyone moved! There are about 50 people in a 50km radius. Peaceful, quiet, but no quilt shops! We live on what was once farm land, behind a feild that once had shacks that housed 27 policemen, their horse stables, their families and the local lockup. We have just a bare feild there now full of canola, in full bloom!

  169. Hi Gene,
I'm Becky and I live in a suburb north of Atlanta, GA. Stone Mountain Park is very near our home. In fact we have stones in our yard that are pieces of the actual mountain. Ok. I'd love to have the small tumbler (new one that just came out) the rag quilt die and Dresden Plate die. Thanks so much for hosting this giveaway. Please thank the folks at Accuquilt for us! Have a wonderful evening!

  170. ••• Happy Belated Birthday Gene! From another Jean, who celebrated last month. ☺ This would make a perfect BIRTHDAY gift, even if it is a little late. I won't mind at all.

I would love to have the AccuQuilt GO because, if you have seen any of my quilts, you would know I use a WHOLE lot of little pieces in them and could really benefit with a faster way to cut ALL those pieces. So, my second favorite die would be the 1.5" & 1" strips. If you'll notice I said second because my first passion would be the DOT(circle die) cutter because I ABSOLUTELY LOVE DOTS • • • • •

You can find me in Waukesha, Wisconsin not too far from Lake Michigan, and it is starting to get cold around here. Need to whip up some more quilts to stay warm.

Thank you for sharing and you can reach me at jayardi@wi.rr.com.

  171. Happy Birthday!

My 3 dies would be the winding ways, the 2.5" strip cutter and the 5" square. Congrats on getting picked for a giveaway!! :)

I live in Fairfield, Ohio. There is nothing very interesting about this place except that we are home to Jungle Jim's the International Market. I'm sure that if you googled that, you would find lots of information. It's a pretty well known store in these parts! lol

  172. This is my dream machine! I'd be so over the moon if I won! I'd love the 2.5" strips, the 6.5" tumbler and the Triangles in Square-3" Finished.

I'm from Michigan! Michigan has more shoreline than any other state except Alaska, BUT it has the longest freshwater shoreline in the world.

Thank you for the wonderful giveaway!

  183. Well Gene I'm almost (almost)embarrassed to list which dies I want because they are for applique. If I were to win this new contraption everyone in blogland has been talking about I want dies: stems and leaves, fall medley and holiday medley.
I don't live in a very interesting town but since you ask it is Kokomo IN. The most interesting thing about In is the Blueberry Festival, and the Indy 500. I'm sure there's more but that is all I can think of right now.
