I confess that I strayed away from her directions, but then this is MY quilt and I can do that. **Today's hint- give yourself permission to take a creative detour. ** I used some Floriani stabilizer called Stitch 'n' Shape to make it firm so it will hang straight easily. It is a fused design, but then I free motion machine stitched on it to add some extra texture. I forgot to put a layer of batting under the top fabric so that I could hand stitch some embellishments on it. The Stitch and Shape is easily machine stitched, but is a little too tough to hand stitch through (at least for me!)
Here is my creation that I am calling "Something to Crow About."
This is based on Laura Wasilowski's "Singing Chicken" design. I really just used her pattern to cut out the pieces of the chicken.

I love it! I want to do an artsy quilt! I love chickens, too, so that helps. LOL You did an awesome job!
ReplyDeleteOh like that... it's all in the eyes.. looks like a chicken with a plan!. great job!

Oh, I love this chicken (or is it a rooster? Not being a farm gal, I am never quite certain)!!! It IS really something to crow about!!!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't heard of that product.... will have to check it out. Love the rooster and the name of the your quilt. Great job!!

ReplyDeleteWhat a nice finish!!!! I love it!
ReplyDeleteLove the tilt to that bird. Looks like he's on a mission!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you were able to use the pattern and make it your own. You do have something to crow about!
You should be crowing. The quilt looks great. I have one of Laura's patterns, but haven't tried it yet. I love that you put your own spin on it. I guess you learned about lots of great stabilizers at the Floriani seminar. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI love all the color! While I know the black & white, neutrals all have their place.....I just love color, color, and more color.
ReplyDeleteSmudgecat - you are a "no reply blogger" (did you know that? )
DeleteI love lots and lots of color in my world. I have a difficult time making anything neutral.
Defiantly a neat chicken. Great work. I also have been dragging with a cold. One moment I think I am back up the next I am back down.
