This and That

I realize that my blog has been idle frequently.  Sometimes life gets in the way.  These days I am spending more of my time with Mom as she is requiring more care.  Her memory is failing greatly these days. Thus she needs help a lot more.  I am blessed to still have her in my life, so I am not complaining, just letting you know.

Speaking of Mom, I bought her a small puzzle (just 350 pieces) at the dollar store.  I thought the bright colors and fun picture would be one she would enjoy.

This was actually more difficult than it looks.  I was happy that Mom was able to find and place some pieces on her own. She was thrilled also.

I have been working on myself also. I was offered a gym membership through my insurance.  I said "Why not?  I will go two or three days a week, maybe."  Ha ha - I think I found a new addiction.

I am at the gym almost every day unless I have something else that I have to do.  Last month, I think that I missed 2 or 3 days. It is nice to see my muscles toning up and gaining strength.

I am linking up with Nicole for the Friday FaceOff.

  4. I'm with Valerie. I like to get exercise but if I'm in a gym with lots of young muscular jocks, I feel very intimidated. But working out is great, and I applaud you. Nice puzzle too. Have a great weekend.

  5. Good you see the happy side of still having your Mom.
Mine died of cancer, means she was "clear" in her head, but it hurt immensly anyways. Enjoy every day - and yay for finding a good gym. Those here are icky, so I train at home.

  9. Yay Gym Gene! Good for you! I can't stand exercising in public but I do exercise almost every day. I generally use youtube videos. My husband is a gym rat for sure.

  11. Aww, Gene, I'm so glad you and your mom can still have fun together! Mine is gone, so you are wise to treasure yours while you can! And good work on the fitness!

  12. I was afraid I'd never actually end up going to a gym lol, so I bought some dumbbells. I can tell a difference. Good luck with your continued progress!

  13. Thanks for commenting on my AI faces post. I impressed that you like the gym. I keep saying I am going to start going, but then I don’t. I’m going to physical therapy though for balance improvement. I guess that counts.

  14. Caretaking is draining, so good you are building yourself up to the task. You can accomplish good things in working in small bits if you can break it down that way.

  17. I feel the same about my Mom, Gene. She is still very active and "with it" but I have noticed she doesn't remember things quite right sometimes. Good for you for getting to the gym. I'm hoping to get back to strength training now that I'll be home for a while.
