A Finish and Friday Face Off

A few days ago, I finished my Stay at Home Round Robin quilt.  I got the binding all sewn onto the back by hand and gave it a wash.  I love the texture that washing a quilt gives it.  Here is the "portrait" (sorry, but it looks a bit washed out in the photo.)

And here is a close up of that lovely texture.
Don't you just want to touch it and curl up under it with a good book?
And here is the back showing the label
I love that binding with both the front and the back.

Now for the Face of the week - I found an old photo of me. This was in my late teens, I think.

I was a skinny guy back in the day, but I wasn't bad looking.

Happy Friday!

  2. Your Stay at Home Round Robin turned out nicely and your binding choice is great. I know how hard it is to get the correct color and contrast in photos.

  3. I love the texture your quilt has with all the stitching. It's beautiful Tom. And you were quite a handsome young guy. Happy April, and have a super weekend.

  4. I absoutely love the texture a quilt has after washing. A long-arm quilter told me once that she didn't like a washed quilt. My brain couldn't process that statement. She must not use hers.

  5. You were skinny Lenny. That quilt is a true masterpiece.

  6. Thanks for the email on FFO. Seriously I had no idea it was Friday. Too much on my plate these days. Anyway, I love the quilt but this photo of you is just too awesome. I'm wondering where you lived in your late teens. I love this photo of you. Thank you for sharing with FFO and have a great weekend.

  11. Gene, I LOVE that quilt. And you are right - fresh out of the dryer after its first wash is the best texture ever! Great job!

  15. Oh yes, dear Gene, you really did look very good, but you know, today you look happy. You've done everything right in life!
I'm so happy to be stopping by again, because your quilts are a dream. Beautifully creative work with a lot of very good craftsmanship. And that's a craft that takes practice. I'm now on my third quilt, which I am "newbie," but I'm having great fun with it. Everything has its time, everything takes its course.
Thank you so much... snuggle up in your beautiful new piece.
P.S. I also do the binding by hand, it has to be done! Isn't it? Good craftsmanship requires the art.
    Best wishes to you.
    Thanks Viola

  16. What a beautiful SAHRR, it belongs in a gallery! The laundered quilting texture is exactly what I like in a quilt.
Love the photo of your young, confident self. I've been reading your comments for a long time on Jeana's blog, so I thought I'd check you out. Got lost in your travelogue about Merida, so fun to read.
