Basted and Moving Along

This morning my friend and I met to baste my quilt.  She gave me a very good lesson on how to baste on a table.  We got my quilt basted in short order with lots and lots of pins. Then, after thanking her many times, I took my quilt sandwich and headed for home.  I had a couple of chores to do along the way so that slowed me a bit.  But once I got home, I could hardly wait to begin quilting.  After all, I have to be finished completely with this quilt one week from today.

So I plowed right in.  I have decided to attempt doing an all over design.  I am trying to keep a larger scale with my quilting but I think it is a bit close still.

I have discovered that I prefer to quilt on solid colors so I can see what I have quilted.  I considered turning it upside down and simply quilting on the white backing.  The down side to that is that the safety pins are all on the top side. That would be a bit difficult short of re-pinning the entire thing.  So, I am going to continue along.

Don't forget that the Craftsy Birthday Sale is going on through May 21st.

Your quilting looks good! I find that I like to quilt on solid colors, too - it's easier to see what has been quilted and what has not - but that may change with more practice. I like your quilt pattern - does it have a name? - ;))

Well shoot. We could have done it in reverse, backing side up, quite easily. Something to consider next time you have a big project like this. what you gave done looks great!

Bet aLHQ recognizes some of the prints as I think she used some of the same line for her grands.

I always basted on a table when I made larger quilts. Using masking tape was always the first step. Looking great, Gene, as your Quilting always does! Now that I've "met" your friend Linda J., think I'll hop over to her blog. :)
