Re-Faced and Roses

Welcome to my stop on the Friday Face Off.  For today's offering, I decided to take the face that I created last week and "re-face" it.  By making a digital copy of the original, I preserved it. Then the copy was used to "play with."   I used a warping tool to change the face.
I also added a different background and changed the clothing.
She looks a lot different now, at least I think so. And her facial expression is hilarious.

I also want to share this image I created of roses.

Both of these were created using the Procreate drawing app on my iPad.
This is not AI art as some readers have thought in the past.

Friday Again? Time flies

So Friday has arrived again. That means more faces to share.  This week, just like last week, I am sharing images that I have created in Procreate drawing software on my iPad.

First up is this recreation of a sketch from my paper sketchbook.
I used that drawing (which was enhanced with watercolor) and used it as a reference.
What?  There is on face on this one? Sure there is but it is facing away from you.

Next up, I used the images of two parrots from a puzzle that we put together.
I recreated them  drawing with my Apple Pencil, and did a pretty good job, I think.
So there are two faces.

And a final face. The reference for this was a simple line drawing from one of my sketchbooks.
I decided to keep it pretty simple but add a little color.
Don't ask me about the headgear.  I don't remember how this came to be originally.

So there you go.  My art to share in the Friday Face Off.

Faces

Welcome to my blog home.  Today is Friday so it is time to share faces I have created. These faces are created digitally using the Procreate app on an iPad.

First up is a cute little three year old boy.   I took a photo to use as reference for my art - because 3 year olds do not sit still. Ha ha.

Next up is a Picasso type portrait of a certain famous scientist. I will let you guess which one.
(Hint, there is a famous photo of this scientist sticking out his tongue at the camera.)

Friday Face Off 8/16/24

Another Friday is here and I have a couple of fun digital drawings to share with you.

First we have Seahorses playing in the ocean with bubbles.
The seahorses were inspired by a book that a friend's baby put into my hands to read to her.
I thought "you know what, I could draw seahorses with just a bit of effort.
So, I did. They have faces so they qualify for the face off.

I also used a photo that I had taken, years ago, of some flowers. It became my reference for this drawing.

I have lots of fun creating these digital drawings/paintings.
I continue to look at everything for inspiration.

Fabric to Digital

The idea to transform one of my art quilts into a digital drawing occurred to me while I was playing with my iPad.  Using a photo of the quilt as a reference,  I recreated the quilt in a digital drawing format.

As you can see, they are different while maintaining the same concept.
This was a great excuse for me to play with more of the "bubble shapes" that I love drawing.
I haven't yet found a good technique to add the quilting lines on the digital painting.
I did add some texture to the background layer to add to the depth of the work.

A Friday FaceOff and A fun Time

Welcome to another Friday Face off event hosted by Nicole at https://beadwright.blogspot.com/

I have a couple of digital drawings that I made while slightly distracted. So excuse the "goofs" - I stil had fun drawing them.
and

The Thursday night, I worked a show at our local performing arts theater.
The act was "The Kings of Queen" (a Queen tribute band) and they did a wonderful job.
Plus, I got to meet most of the band. I got pics with three of them.
The lead singer in the Freddie Mercury garb and the bass player.
A friend, the guitar player (the Brian May of this group) and of course me.
I did meet the drummer on the stairs and spoke with him, but I didn't get a photo.
It was a fun night and I enjoyed it a lot.

A bit of quilting

I watched a replay of a live event on Free motion Circle. https://freemotioncircle.com
I was inspired to take a piece of fabric, make a quilt sandwich and go for it.
Front (multicolor hand painted in 2022)
                     Back (brown)
Are there mistakes, bobbles, wobbly lines? Sure there are. It isn't perfect, but it is perfectly fun and interesting.
Art does NOT need or even want to be perfect. I am reminded of a van Gogh that I saw (a print) and said to myself "the edge of the table doesn't match up behind the vase" But I loved it anyway. And if a master like Vincent van Gogh can be happy with imperfection, so can I. (And so should you work your creations.)

Friday Face Off 08/02/24

I have had a busy week. I did put a pre-wound linen warp on my loom and have started weaving some fabric. This is the first linen warp I have used -and probably the last one I will use also.  Ha ha.

My art today was created using my iPad and digital pencil again.
Hibiscus -side view

Veronica Sanders

Mandala
And just for fun, this little fish swimming across is created in the same program.
I just had to do a bit of extra drawing to make him "move."

If you look very closely on the top two, you may find a face used as a signature for the piece. I created a digital "stamp" for my art. I used an image of a rubber stamp that I carved by hand, to create the digital stamp.

I am linking up the to "Friday Face Off" with Nicole.

Have a great weekend!

New Creations

Due to our host's confusion caused by stress, the Friday Face Off is happening on Thursday this week. Fortunately I have some work ready to share.

For several nights I stayed at Mom's as I was the only one available to sit with her. This is prime time for drawing using my iPad and digital pencil.  I must say that the digital pencil was a good choice for me. I have the Apple Pencil.  When I bought it I thought "that is a lot of money for a plastic stick."  For me, it has proved worthwhile.   I love the ways I can use it for sketching, drawing, "painting" etc. So, here are this weeks offerings.

The first is a reworking of a previous piece that was a re-make from one of my quilted faces.  I changed her hair, both style and color. She has new eyes and eyebrows. I reshaped the nose and lips also. So she is in essence a new creation.

I love flowers and on my iPad, I had a photo of a hibiscus that I took in Mexico years ago.  I used it as my reference and created this piece.

I used a gaussian blur to give it a soft dream-like quality.

This lady is a reworking of a pen sketch that I have shown in the past. I used that sketch as a reference and drew her again digitally.  Of course I had to add some color and changed her skirt a bit in the process.

More “Art”

Lots more play on my iPad. Here are my offerings
I used a pen sketch as a pattern, then added color.

Another bubbles and fishes composition. I love making these bubbles.

For this I used an old high school photo of myself as a guide. I removed the glasses though.

Another of my pen sketches used as a guide.

Friday Fun with Art

I have been having fun with digital art again.  Until Wednesday night when I had a panic moment. There is a special adapter that I used to charge the Apple Pencil.  I went to get it from my backpack and it wasn't there!  Yikes, what to do?  I thought about it a bit and decided that I had probably left it at Mom's.  You see the charge lasts a good while and that was the last place I had charged it. So, I went to bed and tossed a bit.  I considered calling my brother, but knowing that he was going on a trip Thursday morning, I didn't want to interrupt his sleep.
I got to sleep and slept thru the night. The first thing I thought about was "is it at Mom's?"  So I texted him. He said that he thought so.  Whew!
At lunch on Thursday, I was at Mom's so I looked. Yes!!! it was there. I grabbed it and put it by the door. It is now safely home. LOL.  I ordered an aftermarket spare to have at Mom's house.

Now onto the art pieces I have created.   This first one uses some "digital stamps" that I have altered, cobbled together and painted.

Next is a re-do of one that I created using one of my quilted faces as a guide.
I changed her hair and her lips and altered the angle of her head.

you can see the original HERE

And finally the latest piece that was completed is an underwater scene based on some real elements but put together in a pure fantasy combination. I really love this one.
There is transparency, lots of layers and fun use of depth.
The bubbles were learned in an online class, and I have to say, I love them.
I need to finish the class, but I am not sure when I will have the time to do it.

By the way, I can offer you a link for a free one month trial of Creative Bug (where I took this class)

I am linking up with Nicole for the Friday Face Off.  Even the fishes and eels in my drawing have faces.
(grin)

Friday's Digital Art

This week I have three digital art pieces to share with you. All of these were created on my iPad using the  Procreate app and an Apple Pencil.

And just for the fun of it, an interesting graphic design that I created to see what I could do using the symmetry tool.

A Couple of Faces

Life has changed for me and I am often to busy to do my usual creation processes (sewing, weaving, etc)  But I can still sneak in a few minutes for creating art.  So I try to be a part of the Friday Face Off each week.

This week I am sharing two faces that I created on my iPad.    The first face is a male face that I created using some brush stamps for some of the basic elements.  However, I did alter those stamps to make the face I wanted.

Next up is a face that I created especially for Nicole, founder of the Face Off. Nicole likes weird, macabre, interesting art.  So I dashed this one off in a relatively short period of time last week while I was playing with brushes to see what effects I could get.

Happy Friday to you all!
