Success- Quilt Given

Thursday, May 26th 2016, was a great day.  In the late afternoon, there was a party for my nephew who was graduating from High School later in the evening.  I took a few photos when he was opening his presents.
He was moving so there is a little blur in this photo - but I do believe I detect a hint of a smile here.
Examining the design
Yes, it fits!
So now, I can show the label that I put on the quilt.

And, I got folks to hold the quilt up in the hallway of the center where the party was held.
I am thinking that I need to use this pattern again with a limited palette of colors and make one for myself.  I really love the way the design played out.

One of the greatest joys I got during the festivities was hearing of Tyler's success in school.  An English teacher had told his parents that he was one of only three people in her class that she could call on and expect to get the right answer.  That is huge in my book.
He also attended a trade school and obtained a welding certification, so he could go to work right now as a welder.   But he has bigger plans.  He will start as a Freshman at the local Junior College next month. After that he plans to attend the University and get a degree in Criminal Justice.  I am sure he will succeed in whatever he attempts - because he will just keep on trying! And isn't that the way to success in anything?

I think you had a lot of fun with that quilt, designing as you went with the different size blocks. I'm sure your nephew will enjoy the quilt more each day as he realizes the time you put into it especially for him.

Congratulations Tyler!!!! Best of luck on your next adventure.

He isn't letting any grass grow under his feet...starting college next month, already.

I love the quilt. Did you machine embroider the label? Is it on the backing piece or a piece attached to the backing?

Tired of my silly questions? :)

This is a great quilt. Looks like a disappearing nine patch in various sizes? Very cool and perfect for a teenage guy.

Having a skill to fall back on is big in my book! He's the kind of kid that we need lots more of.

fantastic work, Gene, I can see he loves it. What a delightful gift for an accomplished young man. And yes, making one for yourself would be a great idea.

Congratulations to Tyler! And to you for a wonderful quilt - from the original design to all of your amazing quilting - and ahead of schedule. I agree - you should make another one for yourself - ;))

Beautiful quilt. And it's always nice to have knowledge of a trade, regardless of whether it's pursued or not. One never knows.
