Friday Face Off

Today I am going to show you a painting that I did long ago.  Then I am going to show some photos of myself and explain what happened and why.

First the painting.
Honestly the background is my favorite part of this painting.

Now,  for the photos of me.
First is from many MANY years ago.
My eyes and particularly my eyelids are the reason I am sharing this photo.
(yes, my eyes were "dreamy" in this photo.)

Year later, those lovely eyelids were sagging as the tissue aged.

The one on your left (My right eyelid) is particularly saggy. My eye doctor told me that if they were disturbing my vision, we could do a  blepharoplasty.
 And we did.
For a few days after that I looked a bit like a raccoon.
Yes that does look horrible, but it healed nicely and my upper lids are nice again.
Sadly, insurance will not pay to fix the lower lids, so they are still saggy and baggy.
If you are thinking "You could use Plexiderm."  Well, I tried it. The results were great ---for about an hour and then it failed. For me, it isn't worth the effort.

I am linking to the Friday Face Off.

My best friend is having that eyelid surgery in 2 weeks! Same as you, it's starting to affect her vision.

Your eyes look like the victims of aggravated assaults

I know about saggy eyelid and under eyes too. :) I like you painting. I think you're being hard on yourself. Happy weekend ahead-and Friday too. Erika

Nice lady! Weeee - but, as my FIL says, chose, get old or die.... To aging! You are the third person I "know" who had it done. The bedneighbor in hospital looked like that, too, but she was very happy she´d had it done!

The background in the painting sort of bursts...I like it. Glad your surgery went well and you are happy with those results.

You have me cracking up. OK, first the painting is great I love her teeth. Your dreamy eyed photo truly is dreamy. Your description of your second photo isn't that bad. I mean I have seen worse, and your eyes are still dreamy. But after surgery dreamy turns to nightmare. ha ha ha. Was there much pain. Anyway thank you for joining FFO and have a great weekend.

Yikes!!! That looks painful. I've had a couple of surgeries on my eyes, so I know. To me, it is one of the scariest surgeries. We depend on our eyes for so much.
