A "finish" - Panel 2

Some of you noticed that I was having  a lot of fun quilting the second panel. That was the reason that it got finished so quickly - errr, not that you noticed, but that I was having fun.  Before I started the last two blocks, I noticed that I had gotten very involved with the designs. So for the final two blocks that I quilted, I decided to just do a simple meander.  Of course when you see the entire panel, that is pretty well hidden.

This panel is roughly 5 feet long.

Here are some of the sections to show the variety of quilting.
The top area of the pink has a "swirl flower" that is made by starting a spiral
and then making petals around and echoing them.

This one has a slightly different flower.  I call it a loop flower.
First you make a loop, then you use that as the center of the flower

I call this "waves and loops."  I think it is a simple light-hearted quilting motif.
It went really fast. I think it would make a great all-over pattern.
You simply make two wavy lines and repeat across the area with space between.
Then go into the between spaces and add a wavy line with loops on it.
Of course you can vary what you put in the "in between" spaces if desired.

There is one more panel waiting to be quilted, but I may take a break for a few days.
I have some other creative ideas (non-quilting) that I may work on.

Until Next Time,
Stay Creative

I love the waves and loops on blues especially! But honestly, Gene, your overall quilting is exquisite!

I have done the waves and loops as an all over pattern before and I like it. I'll probably use it again this year for some variety.

I think you should call this quilt "Party Time"!

When the quilting is fun and goes well, the quilting gets done! Hooray for part 2 finish.

I was thinking the same thing about waves and loops. It would make a good edge to edge design. One of the great things about what you are doing with your panels, is that you can see that anything really goes when you're quilting a top. I usually spend a lot of mental time trying to think of the best design, when it really doesn't matter. I'm not sure we can go wrong with any design!

I LOVE your "waves and loops" ... I'll have to put it in my fmq idea book and call it "Gene's waves and loops"!! And the rest of the quilting is pretty cool! Love it!
