Round Four SAHRR - Insert a strip in a block

This morning we got the prompt from Wendy to use the technique of splitting a block and inserting a strip.  I love doing this and it speaks to my improv nature.  So I created three "blocks" (not squares) that have inserted strips in them. I have placed them at one end of my piece so that I could see if I am going to like it.
There they are at the top.  I think I like it. I do believe it adds a bit more of my style to the quilt.
I will need to make more to go all around the existing piece.

Here are the three blocks
(ummm ignore the loose threads, I was in a hurry.)

I love that this will contrast a bit with the "regular" piecing of the center of the quilt.

What do you think?  Should I perhaps make it more even and "normal?"

I think you quilt dances, and the added improv strips just adds to the movement. I love it!

Very creative! I like any from of art that goes off pattern. I follow patterns now and then if I'm making something for someone else, but I like my quilts to have a bit of flare . . . looks like you do too :)

Wow this is stunning. I love the starts and yes, the contrast too.

Your whole design is a little whimsical so the new insert blocks look great with it.

I like looking at improve, but it’s hard for me to execute. I seem to need things even and orderly. Wish I could “loosen up”. I like the “strip inserted block” just at the top.

NO! Do not make the blocks more even and "normal" because it isn't your style. Also, they look great with the current version of the quilt.

Love the improv. Leave it like it is.

Your blocks of improv slices are perfect. It is a nice addition to the rest of the quilt - and a little more "you".

Fabulous job on the sliced squares. I love the way it gives your piece movement.

I agree with Wendy; I think this picks up on the movement in the triangles-in-a-square-in-a-square blocks. Lots of movement here!
