For the first two weeks in January, a friend and I went on a cruise. I had not been on a vacation of even a week since 2018, so I was overdue. Part of my planning was to prepare some handwork to carry with me. Honestly, I don't know if that bag got packed or not. I am certain that I didn't stitch a single stitch while I was on vacation. -And that was fine by me. I rested, played and just generally enjoyed my break from being Mom's caregiver.
So, I had a prepared piece with everything I needed to work on it in a tote bag.
I took that bag to Mom's and worked on doing all of the hand stitching. I really enjoyed it.

Better yet, I got it all ready for the quilting phase. I did that quilting on Friday and added a backing to it. It is now ready to be put on a canvas for hanging. I thought that I had a canvas ready - but, no of course the one that is ready is the wrong size.
For the photo, I just placed it over another piece that is mounted on canvas and happens to be the correct size.
It appears a bit nore colorful in person. I love it.
I have made several of these in the past. Those showed up in my Library Gallery Show
back in 2023. Happily all of those sold.
Now I have this new one and this one that is hanging in my bedroom for now.
Perchance, I will have another show and sell these also.
I would certainly love to sell some of my artwork- why?
I need room to make more!

...Gene, I love both of these and they look like landscapes to me!
Your stitching work is beautiful and so glad you got to go on vacation and actually relax... Sounds like you really needed it. Caretaking is exhausting.
These are amazing Gene. I bet they were fun to make too. I love the combo of what looks like machine and hand stitching and those very colorful threads. Happy new month to you.
Beautiful work!
You do such beautiful work! Glad you got away on a cruise too. Self-care is SO important for caregivers!!!
Oh Gene! This is beyond stunning. I love the texture and all of these colors are me. The stitching is incredible. Of course the second one is showing my colors too. :) Earth and sunrise they are gorgeous. I'm actually glad you didn't have stitching to do on you vacation. That way you could just relax and enjoy. Thank you for sharing with SITAR and have a great day today.
That is a very nice piece of art, Gene. It's nice to have 2 or 3 to show to a prospective customer, for them to choose from, and sometimes they surprise you and buy 2.
Gene, your pieces are true artwork. I especially like the second one, I simply love color. That's definitely something I would hang in my room, too.
Oh wow, the new piece is so beautiful! I love both of them but the new one has so much extra texture.
Both pieces are stunning, Gene.
Absolutely gorgeous!
I love that new art piece! You do wonderful, creative work. Glad you got a break.
