Starting to Quilt A Fun Project

Way back in July 2020,  I watched a class on bias tape applique.   I started a project and then wondered what I was going to do with it.  It languished in the "whatever" stack until today.  I pulled it out and ironed away the wrinkles.  Then I layered it for quilting.
I decided to use a variegated embroidery thread for the quilting - with a natural colored cotton in the bobbin.   I am planning to quilt only in the open areas, but I may choose a different thread and quilt the bias tapes also. Only time will tell.

Here is where I started (and for now, stopped to write this post.)
I am sure that I will use several quilting patterns to fill these areas.  This is a fun type of quilting for me.  Plus, I can stop and return later easily.   It will be a bit more time consuming because I will have to bury threads at the start and end of each little area.  If it is finished in time,  I may put it in my current exhibition.  It is nice that I can change pieces out as I like in this venue.

That is looking good! It's a perfect piece for using variegated thread - I'm looking forward to seeing where you go with this - ;))

That looks like a fun project and a great way to practice fillers.

Another Gene Black masterpiece in the works! It is very good that you can swap pieces in and out of the exhibition.
