For today's Face Off entry, I am sharing a quilt that will be in the exhibit. This one is a different type of face. It is the face of "The Absurd Bird," a quilt that I designed and made. This quilt is made with all Island Batik fabrics, except for the backing. This was made for a challenge using a spiderweb cutting die from AccuQuilt to cut the fabrics. I used the spiderweb die to create the eyes of the bird. All of the other pieces were cut using different die shapes. I hope looking at this Absurd Bird makes you laugh.
Clicking the link will take you to her blog. It is great fun
to see how various people interpret the challenge.
Until Next Time,

Ohhhh Gene the bird is just wonderful. Immediately it reminded me of a Native creature with powers. The face, the stance, yes powers and powerful. I love it! Thank you so much for sharing your art with FFO.
Indeed it does make me laugh. I love the name you gave him! Good luck with the exhibit.
Very well done - you must be proud to join an exhibit! Congrats!
I wonder why quilts are not known here in Germany... Sad, actually.
Reckon you also use them as "blankets"?
I only know them from holidays overseas in hotel rooms/cabins over the actual blanket.
I think Absurd Bird is a great piece of art. The colors are magnificent and the design is eye-catching.
That is one funky bird. I hope the show goes well. Enjoy it.
Really creative and well done 🤩
Perfect!
LOVE your Absurd Bird! What a clever way to use the spiderweb die - ;))
A rare owl comes to mind. Good luck with the exhibition.
It is a cute looking face with interesting choice of colours and shapes
This is a fun face Gene. What a playful bird. And congrats on having a chance to display your quilts. That's exciting.
Laugh I did when I saw your "Absurd Bird" quilt, Gene! It's wonderful. Good luck with your exhibit! I hope you share lots of photos of it!
Well done, once again, Gene. Your bird looks like he is sitting in a Yoga position and I can hear him hummm, hummm, hummming Peace and Love :) . Love the colors as well as the overall composition. Enjoy your exhibition ... will you have the opportunity to sell some of your pieces? I know, it is hard to part with your own art, but it just makes room for more creating :) Stay well, Gene ...

Well done, Gene. My wife is a dedicated quilter so I am somewhat familiar with what is involved in creating one of these works of art. My wife is seriously impressed too.
you brought a smile to my face, if I had seen this in a shop, I would have bought it :)
Junior Birdman, I presume! I love him!
