The first one was on FaceBook-- Hoffman California Fabrics - had a giveaway and I was the first one to comment. Believe it or not, the Random generator chose #1. I got this lovely stack of one yard cuts. They are all batiks in my favorite range of colors.
Blues that have a green shade (teal, aqua, turquoise) are my favorites --and I have come to love greens to go with it. Yummy, huh?
Then I won a prize from Richard and Tanya Quilts. It was a "LAFF" (Link a Finish Friday) and also their daughter Julia's birthday. Here is where it gets funny - when they announced the prize here is what was posted "Yes, I could not believe it, I never roll a one, but this time I did. Gene Black won!"
I can't believe that #1 was a winner twice for me. And here are the pretty fat quarters that I won.
They are soft muted pretty designs that I wouldn't have bought, but I will certainly use them! They will go wonderfully with some brights for contrast, don't you think?
So now for a giveaway to keep the good karma going - and honestly - to celebrate my decision to retire. You may remember the stilettos that I made a little over a week ago. I got eighteen comments on that post and I said that there just might be a giveaway coming. I had mine picked out before I showed them. (Okay, T.M. don't faint on me.) I chose the green one to keep as my working stiletto.
So, I am giving away ONE of the others. Because there was a little confusion with the comments and I wasn't sure which one a few people meant, I have numbered them on the picture below.
Here is the deal. Leave a comment telling me which one (number please!) you like best AND what type of fabric (floral, stripes etc) and what color fabric you use most for sewing. This is all one comment. If you were one of the 18 commenters on the previous post about these stilettos, you can leave me a second comment telling me so. (I will check -and it is too late to go comment on it now!)
Someone will win a stiletto and perhaps some other prize to go with it. I will leave this open until Friday April 11th at midnight.
FYI quiltpatternspro(dot)com steals blog posts, if you are reading this there, they have stolen my writing and reposted it. My blog is http://blog.geneblack.com
Comments are welcomed. I will reply when possible unless otherwise stated.

I like number one and I quilt with a variety of fabrics but I really like tone on tone.
Lucky you! My stilettos keep disappearing. I'm using wood skewers right now! #2 is calling to me because of all the red.
Have fun with your retirement, Gene! I like to use bright batiks or mottled or tone on tones in mostly warm colors. I like the #2 stiletto because of the red!
I like number 1 and 3 and I use florals a lot.
I like no. 4 because I love reds and blues.
I use lots of colors sewing. It just depends on what I'm making.
I like number 2. Very pretty.
I also commented last time.
Congratulations on your wins! I like #4 and am lately loving to sew with 1930s fabrics in all colors. Thanks for the opportunity to win your giveaway.
I like #2. I love stripes. I can never get enough little stripes. Congrats on your wins!
that is really awesome Gene to win twice and with the same number-very cool.
I love number 1 the best
I seem to work with allot of autumn colors and my most favorites-that just call to me-are the 1800's reproduction fabrics
Okay, if I can't have number "mine", I will pick #1. And I absolutely love your winnings in the first picture. Those are my favorite colors and what I use most often. And I tend toward florals.
I did comment on your original post about your stilettos and I picked your favorite one as my favorite, which, as I mentioned in my email back to you, means that I must have good taste because it matches yours!
Thanks for the opportunity to win :)
I love #2 and I am mostly into batiks or hand dyed fabrics.
Congratulations on your wins Gene - who says #1 never wins???
I like using geometric fabrics and I love red!
My favourite stiletto is #2
Gene -- congrats! I guess it pays off to enter all the contests.
I like to work with blues, greens, and lavenders. I love to walk through the fabric and see how things match. When I made my one and only quilt, I used scraps from all my old sewing projects and made a variety of old fashioned quilt blocks. I guess it was an old fashioned sampler. Hopefully, I'll have time to start sewing again soon. I finally have a space here.
ugh that stinks that there is someone stealing content. You may be able to do a WHOIS search and find some info on who owns this site. (just do a google search for WHOIS)
Congratulations on your wins!! I can never get enough plaids - so I'll ask for those and if the others don't want #5 - I'll take it - ;))
Thanks for the info on the post stealing - ;))
They are all lovely, but if I have to only pick one, I choose #1. My favorite type of fabric is "geometric." Stripes, dots, squares, triangles ... doesn't matter as long as it is geometric shapes. The color question is a hard one. I like all colors, but I think I use a lot of blue/green/turquoise. At least, I seem to run out of these more quickly than other colors.
Congrats to you, you lucky duck! I wonder what the odds are that the same number is a winner that close together and on two different locales?
I had originally picked #2 as my favorite even if you had to tell me it was NOT red but pink. I need to adjust my monitor color, I guess.
As far as fabrics, I like anything but dark muddy colors. I do like 30's and other vintage appearing quilt fabric but mostly because I collect them for making some quilts I have planned. I'm easy to please really if it is quilt shop quality fabric.
How sweet of you to offer a giveaway.
#3...Downton Abbey fabrics...and purple/greens are my current favorite combos. Fun!
Yup, I was one of the 18 originals, I think. That's short term memory but I think so. Lol
missed the small print on re-reading your post. I was one of your original commenters on the 1st stiletto post.
I really like yours.....but number one would be great and I love sewing with brights!!! Wonderful giveaway
I like4 and the most color that I use is white, thanks
I like #2. Usually I am a blue person but lately I am into greens, mostly geometric s but I love dots and shapes of any kind. Not so much flowers however I love Batiks and 30's fabric.
I like 2 and my favorite fabric is pasley..however I use all types, usually some bold graphics and especially solids.
Beverly
HI!!!! Congrats on your lucky wins!!! Right now I am lovin turquoise and chocolate brown...blues and greens and sometimes orange!!!! I pick number 5!
I love number 1! I enjoy sewing with calico prints that are from my stash I started a long time ago.
I like #3 and I love the florals!
Congrats on retirement! I am sure you will be able to fill your days with loads of creativity! I like #3. So pretty. I sew for myself with a lot of dark reds mixed with other sort of country colors. I think you should buy a lotto ticket with one in it!
Lola
As I mentioned in the first comment from the last time, I liked the green one you are keeping (good for you) and liked the one that is lots of red. Which is number 2. I would be happy with anything you made.
Thank you for this chance

retirement? one usually works harder-lol
I commented on an earlier blog. I like #2. Regarding fabrics, I love the light pastels especially with floral designs. Best of luck on your retirement.
I like #3. I love a variety of fabrics but I think the type that I use the most is tone on tone, and usually in the blue hues.
Since my colors are blues and greens, I would choose stiletto #1. I use a lot of greens and blue is probably the second color I use. I rarely use stripes and rarely use solids......usually some kind of small print or a design on the fabric (which, sometimes, shows as a solid when within a quilt). I love that partial-face portrait!
Oh boy, I like #5. My favorite color to use a my quilting projects is "green" I love green and purchase that color like an addict.
