I am thinking that part of my inspiration for this may have been this window grate from my trip to Mexico. I saw this and had to snap a photo.
The sun certainly adds a nice touch on this winter day. Hmm.... and thinking of that, how about a bit of spring (also from my trip -these were taken in January, but they make me think of spring)
I love looking at hibiscus.
Within walking distance of where we stay is Santiago Park. The church there is a lovely shade of yellow and I love the design also. Here is a picture I took.
(it looks a warmer yellow in person)
Finally - just to make you long for summer even more - here is a picture that I took on January 7th at Sancristiano on the beach front.

Great Trip Around The World...Gene...and WOW...2 inch squares.....way to go!!!!
i'm loving that quilt...looks great...love those flowers....
Not just pretty good - it's wonderful!!! Are any of those floral photos going to end up as paintings?
Fabulous! I love the Trip Around the World pattern...I have a quilt that I bought a long time ago in that pattern and it's one of my very favorites! I think you've done a wonderful job!
And more great photos...sigh* I'm so longing for summer! (The architecture of that church is fantastic!)
XOXO,
Cyndi
Beautiful quilt, Gene! I love batiks, but have never worked with them before. I think your colors are just perfect for such a design. I am considering trying my hand at a cathedral window quilt, and I think batik might just be the way to go.
Once again, thanks for the inspiration!
Gene, the quilt looks wonderful! I really want to go to Mexico "someday". You are definitely keeping that dream alive!
One of the very first quilts I made (which was small) was the trip around the world made out of scraps from the kids clothes...I think my oldest sons has it right now.
Enjoyed your pictures.
Your quilt is terrific. I love hibiscus, too! I'm glad you said the church is a warmer yellow in person...I thought my eyes were acting up as it looked mostly white in the photo to me! LOL
Love the colors in your quilt! I could almost hear the surf on the beach from your photo and the hibiscus were beautiful. Ahhhh - for a little bit of warmth right now - but not summer hot - lol!
Wonderful quilt and really inspirational photos. The colors in that quilt are the most wonderful combination. Those photos should conjure up a few more quilts I think.
I really love the colors in your quilt! Your photos from Mexico are awesome too!
Those warm photos were perfect on such a cold night! The quilt pattern is one of my favorites, your color combinations are beautiful!
Beautiful pictures!
