The Good Eggs Giveaway

UPDATE: Entries are Closed!

I  was invited by Sandi over at  A Legacy of Stitches to participate in the GOOD EGGS Giveaway.  Knowing that she considers ME to be a good egg, how could I say no?  I hope I am the best kind of egg - rich dark chocolate with a creamy nougat center and maybe a bit of caramel surprise in there.  Mmm....now I am hungry. Ha ha.

Folks, today is THE DAY!!!!   You can start hopping down the bunny trail.  Oooohh..I am excited!  I think I will hop some too.

So, a comment to enter.  Tell me something you like about Easter, or an Easter memory or just that you like bunnies. Ha ha.  I am not requiring you to follow my blog, but if you want to that is good too.  The comment is the only requirement.  Well, as a matter of fact there is one other one - I have to be able to get in contact with you if you win. If there is no email that I can reach you from your blog profile, leave me an address in your comment.  Comments will be taken until March 28th at 6 pm Central time. Sometime after that I will draw a winner. Comments on this post only will count as an entry. One per person please.

The theme for the hop is SPRING.   Spring to me means flowers blooming, love in bloom, sunshine and butterflies. (Birds too, but I didn't have a prize that worked for birds!)
So the prizes are:  A fat quarter of fabric with a rose design, a page of butterfly stickers, four notecards showing - sun, love, flowers- and a handpainted bookmark from my studio.
If you win, and there is an item you don't want it is okay.  You can: a. tell me and I won't send it. b. give it away to a friend or even on your blog.  My feelings won't be hurt.

So Let the HOP begin.

Hippity hoppity Easter's on its way!

Happy Spring to you, you wonderful blog readers you!!!!

And if you are wondering, the list of all the blogs to hop to is HERE

I like bunnies! :) I remember Easter at my aunt's house. Every year for Easter breakfast we had Belgian waffles and she would mold the butter into the shape of a lamb using this little butter press she had. She's gone now, but that is one of my favorite memories of her. She was very detail oriented and artistic.

Hey Gene, happy hopping to you, would love any of your give a ways. Every year we hide the plastic eggs. We put in coins, candy, little trinkets and bubble gum eggs. Such fun with the kids. This year my dtr found an egg w/change that had not been opened! Our community has a great hunt for the kids. They hide eggs in the sand and they search in areas for their ages. The gold eggs usually have a $25 gift cert to wal mart. Every child gets a prize of some sort. It is put on by volunteers from the community

Are those some of your design on the cards? I would love to have some of your artwork.

I always love to see the excitement in my kids faces when it's time for the egg hunt. But the best part is remembering that Christ is resurrected

Hi, Gene! It's nice to meet you. My favorite Easter memory is of my mom making colorful nylon party-type dresses for me and my two cousins for Easter. We were yellow, blue, and red. They were scratchy but we looked good! Thanks for the chance at the give-away!

Thanks for a chance to enter! Spring is my favorite season. I love celebrating Easter with my kids- who, thankfully, are still young enough for egg hunts.

One thing I will always remember about Easter is how my mom would hide our Easter baskets in the most impossible places - and we couldn't pick up any eggs until we found them (of course the eggs were in plain sight so it was just torture!!)

What a fun way to discover some great new blogs! Prizes are always a wonderful incentive :) Thanks!

Hi Gene. I'm already a follower so onto the Easter story.
My favorite memory of Easter is when I was little our church had Easter Egg hunts with those great colored eggs...we kids would run around trying to find all the eggs but mostly we wound up stepping on a lot of them...afterwards the adults would gather us up of a group picture in our Easter get-ups!

What a lovely giveaway, Gene. I like that you put so much thought into your gifts! I love all the bunnies, chicks and eggs at Easter. When I was little, I loved the new dresses that we wore and then after church, having a really good dinner with all our family. :-) No need to count my comment....I am just stopping by all the blogs to say HI!

Already a follower/stalker!! My best Easter story is when my youngest was about 3 years old, he was "reading" the words on the Hersey's Kisses. When we asked him what it said, he replied "eat me" and proceeded to pop the kiss into his already over enduldged chocolate covered mouth.

Thanks for the giveaway!

My favourite Easter memory is of an outdoor Easter egg hunt my friend's mom held once when we were little kids. She was really creative with where she hid the eggs - we had to climb trees for some of them.

I like bunnies, but right now we are having calves. Spring is calving time for us and a very busy time. Spring usually puts the end to my sewing for the month of April. I can't wait to get out in the dirt too, but usually I have to wait for May in our country. Nice to meet you Gene. Happy Easter.

This is such a wonderful idea! I love all things quilting and all holidays. I think what I love about Easter, as with all holidays is the memories of my Dad, Mom & my sister & brothers, & all of the rest of the family being together. I am one of 7 children, so with cousins, aunts, uncles & grandparents holidays were very special times!

Hi Gene, I'm already a follower. When I was kid our large extended family would get together and ride on a real hay wagon out to some huge sand dunes. The kids would play while the Moms set up a picnic lunch. Then we would all eat food with sand in it (it couldn't be helped)! When all the kids were to tired to play we still had a fun ride home on the wagon. From a kids point of view it was perfect. I think our parents were very good sports, they had to clean us up when we got home. Great giveaway! Thanks!

Love your giveaway, as for bunnies, well let me tell you about a Black and White Dutch bunny. You see when my son was small his pap pap would take him on Saturday so I could work. One Saturday they showed up with a cage, bowls, food and yes a bunny. He was a cute bunny, but I really didn't need another animal to take care of. Mr BunRab as he was called followed my son like a puppy, he used a litter box or went outside. My son had him for so many years, I didn't think they lived that long, we finally had to give him away when we moved.

To me, Easter is foremost a religious holiday. However: I remember one year using a lamb-shaped cake mold that had been passed down through the family. I knew that the recipe with it made a very dry, rather tasteless cake, so I substituted a devil's food batter. The shape came out beautifully, but when the frosting process got to the neck, the head fell off. I put more frosting and stuck it back in place. It fell again, and I tried again. The neck was approaching a weightlifter look, so the third time I tried a different approach. I stuck the handle end of a salad fork down into the neck and stuck the head onto the tines. With some coconut all over, it looked great, and the head stayed on through a car trip to the party. I did get teased when it was cut.

Easter memories... hmmm? I think the one that is going to happen this year. My son has said he'll give up his Easter basket this year if he can have a pet bunny. He just may get his wish.
By the way... My son is 25 years old! tee-hee-hee!!!

Lindi said...

I hope you have a lovely Easter, Gene! My favourite Easter memories revolve around big family Easter picnics, when I was younger. They always involved lots of home cooked things, plus swimming and fishing. Sadly, many of the family have passed on, and others are scattered, so those wonderful picnics no longer happen. However, next year, with a new (1st) Grandson, we will begin new wonderful traditions!

what a beautiful blog design. I love the spring-time colors.
I wanted to tell my story of how we believed in the Easter Bunny when we were small:

My daddy used to hide the eggs outside. He would coax us with "I think there might be one nearby, over here. . " One year, it snowed the night before Easter. He hid the baskets inside. We all had our own color of Easter grass, so the baskets were hidden all over, and sometimes two in one place, but if it wasn't our color, we were encouraged to move along and give no hint. Anyway it snowed, and to make it even more real, my daddy painted white bunny tracks on the green floor of our porch. It looked like the bunny had left snow tracks from the outside door to the inside door. We were all just enchanted by this amazing bunny, and now by my amazing daddy. He was an artist by trade, so those tracks looked real.
Happy Easter, and thanks for the chance to enter a wonderful give-away.

HI Gene,

I love spring/easter and my favorite memory is from childhood. My first pet was an Easter bunny I received as a very young girl. I love animals so I adored my bunny - unfortunately, my mom had very high expectations of "civilized" animal behavior that apparently "Mr Zip" did not live up to, so my bunny did not last long in my household. But, I have many fond memories of him and he started my lifelong love of animals!
