RIPOFF - Oh MY!

Tula Pink has been ripped off by some cheap fabric company.  She is OUTRAGED.   Go read about it.  This is where you realize that stealing an artists work is a bad thing. I know I would be very upset if they stole copies of my paintings and printed them on what is essentially cardboard and sold them in a discount store.

Tula, I feel your pain! I hope you sue and get a HUGE settlement!

She definitely should sue - but I wonder what happens in cases like- Clinton's Vera Wang wedding dress - which was immediately copied and being sold for a fraction of the original's price. Wonder what those designers do when that happens - and it happens all the time!!!

Intellectual property is the hardest thing to defend from forgeries. I hope that she can find some recourse.

I read Tula Pink's post that you linked this morning, went out to run some errands, and found myself walking into the Walmart. As Stampin' Quilter Barb knows, I hate the place and usually avoid it, but I was in the neighborhood and really needed some things. So in I went, but before the greeter even had a chance to greet me, I remembered Tula Pink's post and did a very quick about-face. I marched straight to my car vowing I DO NOT NEED WALMART! I can get everything I need somewhere else, and I will! Walmart doesn't exist for me anymore!

That is horrible but I would think Walmart has no clue where their fabric originates, so they probably don't know it was pirated. (Our Walmarts haven't even had fabric for ages here.) I would think since Tula Pink designs for Moda that Moda would go after whoever has stolen the fabric design???
