Layer Cake Quilt Along Block 4

I had forgotten that today was the day that the next quilt along block would be posted.  When I saw it, I got excited all over again.  I am loving the quilt along.  I can't say enough how it gets me to make a quilt and it doesn't seem like any real work.
Todays block was designed by Sherri McConnell at A Quilting Life
Here is my version:

I am wishing I had put some bright yellow in there somewhere to add a more powerful color pop. I think the star points and background are a bit bland.  However, I know it will all work out great when it is added to the other blocks. The push and pull of the colors that match in the other blocks will do that magic.  And if it doesn't I can always add a bit of applique on this block in the "geese" sections to pop it out.
Finding those types of solutions is a fun creative adventure.

I haven't had a chance to make this one yet, but I like your version.

Good job, Gene!

That's the neatest part of quilting, the way you can take fabrics that don't seem to particularly match well or the way you'd like and once they are all together they always look great!

Ah, perfect points - love the colors.

Yes, it will work! I agree with Melissa. Sometimes those we don't like a lot by themselves end up mingling with the others perfectly. Look forward to that!

Love the colors in your block. I'm getting ready to make mine today because if I put it on the back burner it will stay there until after Christmas - lol!

I haven't been doing this quilt along but will watch yours. Did you ever do more with Downey Quilts?

Oh I love it! And...oh no...I haven't started the last one. I'm traveling and just finally got a cutting mat to use. I'd better hop to it.

I agree that it needs something bright to make it pop. I do like the pattern.
