A Little Love

In honor of the day --you know February 14th - today......that mushy love day,  I spent a little time sewing and practicing my free motion quilting as well as some straight line quilting.  I used an orphan block that had a little heart appliquéd on it as part of the design.  So here is my little table mat.  It is a bit bigger than a placemat.

You can see that I echo quilted that little heart applique.
The original block was part of a jelly roll race quilt that I started and realized that I didn't like all that much. I prefer the back of this more.
It is always good to make a small simple piece to practice your free motion quilting before you jump into quilting a project.  Normally I just do a practice sandwich, but this works well also.

I love this day because it allows me to send cards to people I care about, need encouragement and I don't get taken for sappy. Your little quilt is very nicely done.

I enjoy quilting the little pieces. Those little pieces are easier to maneuver in the machine too.

Fun mat and fun practice quilting! I think I have some of that very fabric in my stash!

Happy Valentine's Day, Gene! Your little table mat looks "Love-ly" - LOL. And you're right - smaller pieces are perfect for practicing and warming up for FMQ. Thanks for the reminder that I should make another set of placemats - might as well make something useful instead of a bunch of "practice" pieces that wind up in a pile - LOL - ;))

Great small project. I love that you chose to re-purpose an unfinished/ unwanted one to a cute one.

Haha, I giggled at Jennifer Gail’s comment. You are so prolific, Gene, I vote to send it to her! I don’t know of a more committed quilter than you to doing things right, practice, practice, practice. But that doesn’t mean we love every one of our efforts. No better time than that to pass something along! :)
