Giveaway - Follow Nick

Okay, so I did a tease in the last post.  Barb said I was "mean" to post it as just a teaser.  Oh well, that is me, heart of stone! Ha ha -  NOT!

My friend, Tom the carver,  has a blog that Nick, one of his creations is using to post a journey. The blog is Whittler's Hollow.  For this entire year, Nick is telling of his journey from the Swamps of Louisiana to the his completion as a work of art.  Nick will become a Santa or Father Christmas figure from Whittler's Hollow (the website - not the blog).

Tom also carves other creatures.  One of his creations is a GolfBall Critter.  If you golf, or know a golfer,  then you have experienced or heard how sometimes even with a perfect swing, the golf ball goes far astray. ( Yeah, it happens to me when I play miniature golf, I haven't graduated to play with the big boys.)  Well folks, the secret is that inside those seemingly innocent golf balls lurks a GolfBall Critter.  That little man in there decides he didn't like  the way you addressed (hit) the ball (which is his home) so he does a sneaky little spin and carries the ball far from where you wanted it to go.  Tom carves away the outside of the ball so you can SEE the little man inside.
See for yourself:
I took two pictures so you could get a side view.
The stand is not included because that is a stand from one of my pretties.  I just used it to support Mr GolfBall Critter.

Can't you see the mischief in his eyes and in the look on his face?

I confess that this is a cast version of an original.  Originals are kinda pricey for a giveaway. I am not feeling that generous!.

There will be more added to the giveaway in the next day or so.... But for now, here is the deal:

To be entered to win the GolfBall Critter you need to comment here AND go to Whittler's Hollow blog  make a comment there  and become a follower.  Some of you are already followers.  Great news for you- all you have to do is comment here - and if you have never commented on Whittler's Hollow blog   make one comment over there.  Are you cool with that?

I know there will be some type of fabric added to this.  I THINK that Tom has a bag for the Critter.  This bag is handmade by his FATHER who was 93 when he made the bags.  I hope Tom finds the bag to add to this as no more are being made and it is a collector's item.
And maybe I will add some notecards printed with my art.
Does that sound good?

See other prizes HERE

Well what are you waiting for ?  Get to it.

Hey I love you, my dear readers! I hope your TODAY is happy!

EDIT: You MUST be a follower of Whittler's Hollow blog to be entered.  Thanks!

Hi Gene, I knew that someone was hiding in those golf balls but I didn't realize the little guy was so vendictive....LOL....I'm already a follower of Whittler's Hollow...I love the blog and the stories....I've even told a couple of my friends from my teaching days that they should show the blog to their students...it makes for some great writing stories.

I correspond rather regularly with Nick (over at Whittler's Hollow). Right now, I am feeling sorry for him as he is stuck indefinitely in a storage space with other "knees".....but I think I will feel worse when he is carved and at a new home where they might not let him "talk" to me any longer. (What WILL I do then???) Anyway......our best friend is a golfer and works on one of the Jack Nicklaus golf courses near us, so he'd love this....would make a great birthday or Christmas gift for him! So...count me in! I will now go and say hi to Nick...even though I am already a follower!

Now, I'm not a golfer, nor do I know a golfer (hard to believe, I know ;) so I'm not really entering, but I had to post and just say that cast version or not, this is artistically INCREDIBLE. Congratulstions to the artist!

Hi, Gene. I 'met' you through IHAN, and here I am. I commented on Whittler's Hollow blog and became a Follower. So enter me in your drawing, please. I'm a fabricaholic, AND an art lover, so I would be a worthy prize recipient!

Gene, I've been following Nick's blog since you first told us about the journey. It is so interesting. And, I want to win your giveaway, but that would be too weird. We have already won from each other. I don't like to jump through hoops and stuff, so I don't enter many. But, you can include me. Oh, your quilts are interesting. I'm not sure how you do that quilt as you go thing. I'd sure like to find some good instructions on that. I only have one book, and it is for specific patterns.

What a talented guy. I might be able to paint a smiley face on a golf ball but this is amazing. Thanks for sharing about Nick's blog, Whittler's Hollow. I signed up as a Follower and will enjoy reading the posts and the Christmas traditions. I love Father Christmas figures so this is a great link for me. :-)

Gene:

My nephew is a golfer and instructor who would get a kick out of the golfball critter. Maybe he already knows a few himself. I checked out the artwork notecards and they are beautiful. I am following Nick, and I will post about your giveaway.

My father was a wood turner -- learning the craft in his 70s. I can appreciate the enormous patience and talent that his wood carvings require. Please enter me in this giveaway. mlwright29 (at) hotmail (dot) com

I follow (via the top follow button) Whittler's Hollow and commented there. Enjoyed seeing the cypress knees -- my father would soak and dry his wood as well -- but our storage area is much smaller than Tom's. Thank you for this glimpse into the Hollow.

Gene, your artwork is very moving. I have enjoyed your online art gallery. I am from Cullman, Alabama and I noticed several shows around our area..Let me know when your next one is my friends and I would love to get together and attend. Your carvings are so whimiscal, makes me smile.
