A few days ago I posted a picture of some Fabric and a Book. The book is Convergence Quilts by Ricky Tims.
I did the convergence and didn't think it had enough OOOMPPH. So I haven't shown that just yet. Okay, here it is
It is okay it actually looks better in this picture than it did in person. Regardless, I wasn't thrilled with the results. I had several ideas. Then I said "What if I....."
So tonight I took some purple fabric, cause purple is fun and yummy, and did a wild angle cut and re-converged it.
I really like everything about this EXCEPT that glaring center seam. The whole shape and flow changed due to the angle cut. Why? Well I learned a valuable lesson - you can't merge all the strips when you cut on an angle like you can when you cut on the vertical and horizontal. That said, I will probably put this fun piece into a lap quilt. I might even set it in at an odd angle just to add to the interesting look it has already.
I do think that the re-convergence helped the convergence to pop. It was a fun experiment in sewing and fabric manipulation.

You had an awesome idea about re-converging with purple. As an added plus...now I know beforehand what to expect when I try to converge on the angle. I am going to go back and edit my post for today and link back to you. Hoping ahead of time you won't mind if I borrow the photo...
When I saw the first picture I thought, "What's not to like here?" But I LOVE the addition of the purple. This is going to be a super cool quilt. Did it make up as quickly as it seems?

you are so right, that purple just made it pop...that is sooo beatiful...I think I could just look at that forever....just brings a sense of peace, like you are looking into something....no peeping TOm here!!

WOW! What a difference in the color play. I liked the subtle effect of the first picture but the addition of the purple really changes the dynamics. How stunning! Thanks for sharing your lesson with us - hopefully it's something I will remember.
love the second version and you're right I hate the seam too. Maybe if you were able to do 2 more seams so you would have an odd number of seams? But then again it might just ruin it. Gotta quit while you're ahead!

re-convergence worked wonders !!
Love what you did with the reconvergence. If that center seam really gets to bothering you, take it apart and put it in a quilt as two separate blocks. A spacer with them offset to it appears the wave continues. Let the quilting tie them together.... wavy lines that goes thru one block and then finds it way to the next to continue.

I agree -- re-converging popped! It is as you said, a fun piece, and I find it puzzling to try and figure out how it was made. Fun for sure!
