The "Horse of a Different Color" piece is finished. I will put black foam core on the back and make a wood frame that will be under the edges to hang it. this will make it hang on a wall like a proper piece of art. (That little bit of brilliance is from the class Stupendous Stitching on Craftsy.)
Then I will take it to the gallery and see if they want to put it in stock.
As you can see, I did a wavy edged fused binding that I then also sewed down. The hand dyed fabric for the binding is from Vicki Welsh an is part of a gradient that I forced myself to cut into. Vicki sells her lovely hand dyed fabrics on Etsy.
I used an Aurifil wool for the decorative stitching (blue) closest to the outer edge, my machine didn't have any problems with it, but it does cause more lint. Remember to clean your bobbin area and your needle bar area.
Yes, I think I love this piece.
Have you finished anything over the holiday weekend? Or did you relax and just have a great time? Either is perfectly valid.
I also did more hand embroidery on the other piece I am working on. Sorry that one is still a "secret." The peeks you saw yesterday may be all you see until it is finished.
Comments are welcomed. I will reply when possible unless otherwise stated.

Very nice. Great use of decorative
stitches in the border and the colors are wow.
Beautiful finish, Gene.
By the way... Congratulations on winning the $50 drawing at pigtails and quilt!
Wonderful Gene and congratulations on your win!
It's fabulous!
The horse looks so beautiful. I am sure the gallery will want it.
I finished the top of an English Paper Pieced mini. Now to hand quilt it.
Oh my goodness....love this piece. It's incredible. I just keep looking and looking at it, and enjoying all the different things I see. Great job!
Lovely, Gene! Definitely an art piece with your painterly eye.
Gene, I love this piece too. The borders really pull it all together. Have you ever mounted pieces like this on canvas. I took a class with an art quilter who mounts her work on canvas and I liked that method too.
Wonderful finish! it is for sure a YOU! Hugs, Marie
Gosh THAT is stunning Gene!!
ooo - I love this piece, too! Very nice finish here. :)
